What information do we collect?
When you access the Wissenschaftskolleg’s application platform, your browser automatically transmits information to the Wissenschaftskolleg’s webserver, where it is temporarily stored in a log file. We collect this information to ensure a trouble-free user experience and, when necessary, to correct technical problems.

This information is stored for technical reasons only and is not placed in connection with any certain person.
When you use the form for Applying for a Fellowship at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, we collect additional personal data besides your name and email address. The information you provide is used to process your application and for possible follow-up questions. We use this information exclusively as part of the application process. Following the completion of the digital application process your information is deleted from the server accessible online and subsequently used internally only.

The online application platform of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin does not use any external service providers. No information is passed on to third parties.

Information, Correction, Deletion

1. Collection and processing of personal information
a) Inventory data
When you contact us by email or a form, the information you provide is used to process your inquiry and for possible follow up questions.
b) Usage data
When you access these web pages, information including your IP address, accessed pages, browser type, operating system or the domain name of your ISP is stored in so-called server log files. Collection of this information helps us correct errors, identify and optimize the services the Wissenschaftskolleg provides. These server logs are stored for a time span of two months and then deleted.
2. Deletion / Blocking of data
We adhere to the principles of data avoidance and –minimization. We therefore store your personal data only as long as needed to fulfill the purposes here identified or the various storage periods required by law. Following the fulfillment of these purposes and/or expiration of these required periods the information in question routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with statutory provisions.
3. Data security
We use up to date encryption processes including SSL (Secure Socket Layer) to keep your data secure during transmission. To keep your data secure following transmission, we remove it immediately from servers that are accessible online.
4. Links to external websites
The application platform of the Wissenschaftskolleg contains no links to external websites.
5. Use of cookies
Following registration with the platform, so-called cookies are placed in your browser when logging into an application account. Cookies are small text files that the Wissenschaftskolleg stores on your computer.
6. Changes in our privacy rules
We reserve the right to change or amend this privacy declaration so that it always meets applicable statutory requirements or to implement changes in the privacy declaration, e.g. to introduce new services. The new privacy declaration would then apply to all subsequent access.
